1.Riviera Maya: Sian Ka’an Reserve Ancient Maya Canals Tour

★★★★★★★★★★4.7 · 453 reviews · 8 hours · from $173Our pick

Spend eight hours in Sian Ka’an with a Maya guide such as Manuel, Jenny, or Gilberto. Cruise four lagoons, visit the Xlapak temple, float 950 meters through a clear canal, watch for manatees and crocodiles, stop at Pez Maya, and eat traditional Maya dishes. Small boats keep the outing personal, though the $173 price plus the reserve fee is worth weighing.

“Fantastic trip. Pick up on time and then a great lunch followed by the boat tour. our guide Jenny was welcoming, friendly and so knowledgable. our boat driver was great and the skill navigating the narrow channels was amazing. my favourite part was the 1km lazy river float with just us and nature.. so peaceful.. We were lucky enough to see lots of cichlids, birds manatees and a freshwater crocodile. would thoroughly recommend this trip.”

“We loved this tour of Coba and the Cenotes. Our guide was knowledgeable and energetic which was perfect for my active family of teens and young adults with parents. We arrived first thing when everything was quiet and private. We had first choice of the bikes and rode the bikes throughout the grounds in peace. Very easy Covid distancing. Lots of pictures with just our family and no extra people in the background. The cenotes were awesome with high jumps and snorkeling included. This tour was a highlight of our trip to Cancun.”
